Back burner....

Well a back injury had me put this on a back burner. I feel much better now and am back working on the bug. Time to paint stuff.

 

Hood

Dropped the hood off at the sandblaster . Things are shaping up.

Powder coated engine tin

Pick up my engine tin from the powder coating shop today. Do they ever look great!

Holly 2110 ( bugspray) 200cfm

Been slowly rebuilding the bugspray. Striped and painted the cast iron base gloss black.
Interesting carb. Been in production since the 30s as the 94. Hot Rod folks have been using them in two and threes inline. And love them . Lots of cool stuff is still made for them. In the late 60s Holly made a new four bolt base ( as opposed to the original three bolt) for them and started marketing them to the VW crowd as the Bugspray. Many old timers and off road guys know this carb rocks if treated right. You need to run some engine heat to the intake to keep it from icing up.

Spray "Plasti Dip"

My first shot at using Plasti Dip in a spray can. Thought I would plastic coat the inside of my headlight buckets. Should work out great!

Short block

Took the bottom end in to Speed Shop in Harriman , Tn. And two days later Larry has the short block done! Quick!!
Dropped off the engine tin at ABJ Custom Powder Coating for a nice burgundy powder coat. Should look great.

Blitz black

Spray on, sand off...yes sense .
Of course I have a run. I'll fix it.

Fade to black

Phos ( navel jelly) treatment, then primer. Finally a coat of " blitz black". The trunk is looking better and I did the same to the engine compartment . Digging the old seals out of my beat up engine compartment channels was a pain in the , well you get the idea.

Deconstruction

Gutted the wiring under the front deck lid. Removed the gas tank. Have been wire brushing off this flakey stuff that was everywhere . Found more rust to treat. Driver side front fender has a lot of hidden rust ( headlight bucket is eat up) so I may replace that fender.
